ABSTRACT
A review was performed of selected State DOT guidelines, practices, and policies pertaining to the barrier construction, removal, and repair and the required level of completion before adjacent roads and/or travel lanes are opened to vehicle traffic. In addition, guidelines were also reviewed in terms of the associated work zone traffic control and need for speed reduction. Documentation (i.e., manuals, specifications, guides, etc.) from eleven State DOTs were reviewed. State DOT personnel were also contacted to ensure that the appropriate documents were reviewed.
